EMDR

EMDR is built on belief that when we experience trauma, our brain sometimes has trouble fully processing it, which can leave the memory stuck or "frozen." EMDR helps the brain "unlock" these memories so they no longer cause as much emotional pain, anxiety, or stress.

It’s a gentle, effective way to help people heal from past trauma without needing to talk about every detail of the experience.

Many neurodivergent folx find EMDR to be beneficial when focusing on core issues like insecurity, low-self esteem, feeling broken, and feeling like they don't fit in or belong.

DBT

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of therapy that helps people learn how to manage their emotions and handle difficult situations more effectively. DBT focuses on dialectics instead of opposing beliefs that people tend to cling to. Learning that two opposite things can be true at the same time without canceling one another out helps people heal a lot of rigid beliefs. Once strengthening these skills and thought patterns, a person generally feels more stable more secure in their day to day life.

DBT skills are often helpful for neurodivergents because many folx with neurodiversity related issues struggle with emotion regulation, rigidity, communication and relationship issues.

Telehealth

Do you need support, but can’t make it to an in-person appointment? Are you a busy stay-at-home or working parent, and don’t have the time to drive across town for an appointment? Do you live in a more rural area, or maybe you prefer to just do things Virtually? If so, we can help you through virtual therapy, or telehealth. Telehealth therapy is provided on a HIPAA compliant video conferencing platform for your convenience.

Many individuals with neurodivergence benefit from telehealth services because they're able to receive treatment from their own safe spaces with their comfort items and accomodations.

Counseling for Trauma

Most people will experience trauma in their lifetime, whether it’s a single event or complex trauma caused by a series of events. While some individuals have found ways to cope with the impact of these experiences, it’s common to experience symptoms such as flashbacks, mood swings, irritability, and trouble sleeping. People may also avoid thinking about the events by keeping busy, have negative beliefs about themselves or the world, or experience hypervigilance and risk-taking behaviors. Additionally, trauma can lead to feelings of disconnection from others, unwanted memories, and reminders of the event

Research indicates that neurodivergent individuals are at an increased risk of experiencing trauma, partly due to the challenges they face, which often lead to difficult interactions and experiences. Another reason for this heightened risk is that their brain and nervous system process information in ways that make them more vulnerable to stress, making it harder to cope effectively.

You don't have to face the trauma alone. Reach out for help.
